Automated production of thermal walls for energy-efficient construction with iglidur® PRT slewing ring bearings

How EBAWE Anlagentechnik GmbH manages to implement efficient production of thermal walls using an automatic insulation material cutter

In this day and age, it is more important than ever to pay attention to sustainability, efficiency and accuracy when constructing buildings. Climate change and increasing energy consumption are global challenges that we must face. Sustainable and efficient construction is therefore not just a trend, but a necessity.

An important factor in the sustainability and energy efficiency of a building is insulation.
An efficient invention in the field of insulation material is the automatic insulation material cutter. This enables quick and precise cutting optimisation, which results in significantly less waste and thus saves material and time costs. The cutter can also be used flexibly and is therefore also suitable for special shapes and angle cuts. This leads to simplified processing of insulation material and greater efficiency in the work process.

Overall, sustainable and efficient construction is an important contribution to climate protection and the conservation of resources. With the right choice of insulation and intelligent construction, we can make our contribution to a better future.

Profile

  • What was needed: Slewing ring bearing, xiros® conveyor roller, a stepper motor as a drive and harnessed igus® readychain®
  • Requirements: Withstand high dirt loads for diagonal cuts in building materials
  • Industry: Construction/mechanical and plant engineering
  • Success for the customer: Automatic insulation material cutter that cuts the insulation panels according to the CAD data

Problem

EBAWE Anlagentechnik GmbH from Eilenburg in Saxony - a company for mechanical and plant engineering and manufacturer of turnkey production plants for the precast concrete industry, was looking for a special solution for which igus® provided advice.
A customer from the USA wanted to insert the so-called thermopins (used to connect the facing and supporting shell of core-insulated prefabricated concrete parts) not only perpendicular to the insulation board, but also diagonally in any direction. Therefore, a 3D head had to be developed to attach the high-pressure water jet nozzle, which enables these oblique cuts.

Solution

The development of a 3D head that makes the angled cuts and holes using a high-pressure water jet.
The bearings of the axes of the 3D head were implemented with iglidur® slewing ring bearings (type PRT-01).
The insulation is then attached to the inner shell of the thermal wall using the thermopins. The insulation material is placed on the still liquid concrete of the inner shell that has just been poured. The thermopins are inserted into the liquid concrete through the holes made with the help of the automatic insulation material cutter. When the concrete hardens, the insulation is held securely in the inner shell.
