UKCA - The mark for the
British market

The UK government has stipulated that products imported into the UK (England, Wales, and Scotland) require the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark. This provision has been in force since 1/1/2021 and applies exclusively to the British market.
UKCA
The UKCA mark was created after Brexit and is therefore considered a replacement for the CE mark. Since the beginning of last year, UK laws mandating UKCA marking have been in effect instead of EU directives and regulations.
Marking has been mandatory since 1/1/2021. But there is a so-called transition period from 1/1/2021-31/12/2022. During this period, manufacturers are still allowed to introduce to the UK market products that bear only the CE mark. Starting on 1/1/2023, the UKCA mark must then be compulsorily affixed to the product, with a similar requirement to that for the CE mark. For example:
  • The UKCA mark must be affixed to the product so that it is clearly visible and legible
  • UKCA marks may be affixed to a product only by manufacturers or authorised representatives where permitted by relevant legislation.
Products that require the UKCA mark include
  • Toys
  • Elevators
  • Industrial machinery

More official information from the British government can be found here.

For our chainflex cables, this means the following:

More than 1300 chainflex cables have the UKCA mark. The chainflex cables have been re-tested and given the UKCA mark. In addition, all future chainflex cables will be subject to UKCA standards.
This means that you can use our cables as usual.
